Subject: Nominations for CARS President / Nominations au poste de président de CARS
Issue Date: November 16, 2011
Nominations are now being accepted for the position of CARS President, who will be elected by the Board of Directors before the annual meetings held in January 2012. The term of office is one year, and will begin in January. Candidates must be members of a CARS club and basic qualifications include;
- A comprehensive understanding of rallysport
- Superior verbal and written skills,
- Demonstrated abilities to lead volunteer organizations,
- A strong commitment to teamwork,
- Ability to work with diverse groups, including rally organizers, competitors, volunteers, sponsors, and media.
- Fluency in both English and French would also be an asset.
The president working together with the Board of Directors establishes annual and long range planning priorities, goals and objectives. He or she also chairs all meetings of the Board, represents CARS on the ASN Canada FIA advisory Board and also acts at the direction of the Board as necessary.
Nominations will remain open until December 15th, 2011. If you are interested, or would like to nominate another candidate, please notify the CARS office and provide your contact information as well as a brief resume of your qualifications. La période des nominations au poste de président de CARS est maintenant ouverte. Le prochain président sera élu par le conseil de CARS avant l’Assemblée générale annuelle de janvier 2012. Pacific Forest Rally is scheduled to air on TSN on November 6 with reruns scheduled for November 8, 10, and 12.

The rally community is invited to attend the next meeting of Rally Pacific Motorsports at Boston Pizza in New Westminster on Sunday August 21, 2011 at 1800. Topics on the list for discussion include changes to the CRC and WCRC calendar and the 2012 CARS AGM / awards gala in Kelowna BC. Please come out and give your input.

After a lengthy development period CARS is pleased to announce a new look for the CARS website, at www.CARSRally.ca. The new design and look are primarily the work of a group of volunteers who have spent countless hours working on the design, content and translation into both English and French. I would like to particularly thank Pat Richard, Keith Morison, Pierre Racine and Linda Epp for the huge amount of work they have put in.
This is just the first phase of the site, with more development and functionality to come. Future plans include online application and payment processing, rally forums as well as other initiatives. Much of this work is currently underway, and will be rolled out within the next few months.
For now, enjoy the new site and let us know what you think. Ideas on what you’d like to see included in future updates to the site is also welcome! Please send your comments to Marketing@CARSRally.ca

Après une longue période d’incubation, CARS est heureuse de présenter la refonte de son site Web à www.CARSRally.ca. Son nouveau design et son style sont surtout l’œuvre d’un groupe de volontaires qui ont passé d’innombrables heures à peaufiner son design, son contenu et sa mise en page, tant en français et en anglais. Je tiens à remercier particulièrement Pat Richard, Keith Morison, Pierre Racine et Linda Epp pour toutes les heures qu’ils y ont consacrées.
Ceci n’est que la première phase du site. D’autres développements et fonctions sont toujours en développement, comme l’inscription et le paiement en ligne, des forums rallye et d’autres surprises. Toutes ces fonctions sont déjà en cours d’élaboration et verront le jour au cours des prochains mois.

In recent years, the CARS Board of Directors has been approached by events wishing to be observed for inclusion into the Canadian Rally Championship. During the discussion it became apparent that there is a need for a policy document that clearly outlines what criteria should be used in determining the standards of a ‘national’ event. Such a document would be a valuable guideline not only to potential CRC event organizers, but also to the CARS Board in determining if current CRC events are meeting CARS expectations.
In response to this situation, the CARS Board has prepared a draft document outlining CRC event standards. Input is now being sought from the competitors and organizers prior to finalizing the document.
